Professional Profile José Santos: Broadcaster / Educator / Advocate
With over 30 years in Broadcasting and Communications, I have managed, programmed, and consulted some of the most successful Latino radio stations across the United States, Puerto Rico, and México.
Radio has moved me around the country to work and live in many great radio and television markets; such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, San Antonio, Fresno, and Bakersfield. I also have been given the opportunity to assist radio and multimedia executives in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Phoenix, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Denver, and many other existing and emerging Hispanic markets. In each one of these and several other markets, I have met many wonderful and talented individuals that have only helped nurture my knowledge and experience.
In 2007, I began my consultancy named Santos Latin Media, which consults Latin format radio stations across the United States and México. In 2009, Santos Latin Media launched JUAN, a Spanish Adult Hits format, in Austin, TX. In 2012, in partnership with Sparknet Communication and Westwood One (formerly Dial Global), we launched JUAN as a nationally syndicated format. JUAN is currently distributed nationally and internationally through Synchronicity.
I attended Southern Utah University, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Economics from California State University, Bakersfield, and hold a Master of Education degree; with an emphasis in Bilingual / Multicultural Education, from Northern Arizona University. I also hold a teaching credential, authorized by the California Commission on Teaching (CTC) in both Social Science and Spanish. I am an educator with specialization in Social Studies, Spanish, and English as a Second Language (ESL). As an Educator, I have the drive, determination, and compassion as a Bilingual / Multicultural Education Instructor and Advocate.
